Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed situated in Washington DC. A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was made as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell is a former panelist and host of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was on a panel for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as weapons control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
